The Goal: Did you know that nearly 95% of all used clothing and textiles can be reused or recycled? SWAC encourages residents to divert these materials from the landfill to support local charities and reduce environmental impact.
What is Accepted?
Generally, these organizations look for:
-
Clothing: Shirts, pants, dresses, coats, and baby clothes.
-
Footwear: Sneakers, heels, boots, and sandals.
-
Accessories & Linens: Hats, gloves, belts, bags, sheets, and towels.
-
Condition: Items should be Clean and Dry. While some organizations accept items with minor rips or stains for textile recycling, others only take “boutique-ready” goods. When in doubt, please call the location first.
Where to Take It (Rutland County & Beyond):
There are a plethora of options in the county for donation. If you find other local options, please let us know! Note: Local transfer stations do not accept clothing unless it is disposed of as trash.
