Decommissioned boilers (gas, oil or wood-fired) may be disposed of at the Rutland County Solid Waste District Gleason road transfer station. These units may contain hazardous materials such as refrigerant, mercury devices, capacitors and ballasts. Once the boiler is inspected and any hazardous materials are removed, it will be recycled as scrap metal. A permit is required for access to this facility and additional fees may apply. Visit or call 802-775-7209 for additional information.
