Aluminum (Cans, Pie Plates, and Foil): BANNED FROM LANDFILL

  • The Law: It is illegal to dispose of aluminum in the trash.

  • What’s Included: Beverage cans, clean pie plates, aluminum trays, and clean foil.

How to Recycle:

  • Recycling: These can be placed in your household recycling bin or taken to any SWAC transfer station recycling container.

  • The “Clean” Rule: Items must be rinsed and free of food residue.

  • The “Ball” Rule for Foil: Ball up clean foil until it is at least 2 inches in diameter (about the size of a tennis ball) before putting it in the bin. This prevents it from getting lost in the sorting machinery.
